United States vs. Sweden Game time is upon us and both countries are set for a competitive matchup. At the 2016 Olympics, the U.S. claimed the silver gold medal. In April's last meeting, the two sides played to a 1-1 draw. It was the first time since the new USWNT coach Andonvoski that the USWNT lost. The lineup of Sweden will include a number players that could pose problems for the U.S. including Kosovare Andllani, Lina Hurtig and Fridolina Rodfo.

While the United States has yet to beat Sweden, the first-half scoring made it very interesting. Each Carli Lloyd and ChristenPress scored a goal, while Anna Anvegard of Sweden scored two. Both have been named to the Olympic squad. They have combined for eight goals across 19 matches.
Morgan Brian
The United States women’s football team beat Sweden 2-1 to begin the World Cup. The Americans used an aggressive attack strategy and were centered in Sweden's half of the field. They made some great chances in the midfield and pressed hard. But, the Americans' game doesn't end there. Morgan Brian was injured during the first half, when she took a challenge on a Swedish defender and went down. Anna-Marie Keighley from Sweden was unable stop the injury.

Jonathan Lekkerimaki
Jonathan Lekkerimaki is an NHL winger and a talented player. He is a skilled skater who has a great wrist shot and good vision. Lekkerimaki was the top scorer for Sweden in the World Under-18 Championships last spring. Recently, he scored against Canada. His goal was replayed on a Jumbotron, but it was not broadcast.
Tierna Davidson's World Cup debut
Davidson, who plays professionally for the Chicago Red Stars, made her World Cup debut 16 months after being crowned World Cup champions in 2017. She was a key part of the team as a US Women's National Team player.
Stina Blackstenius
Stina Blackstenius scored twice for Sweden in their first game against the U.S., putting the US on the back foot. Although her goal was only luck, it was also a significant part of the Swedish dominance. Sweden is the 2016 Olympics world champions. Sweden held a draw of 2-2 in Stockholm with America in April. But, in Tokyo, the Americans were defeated 4-0. Blackstenius's goals versus the world champs demonstrated that Sweden is not to undervalued, despite the odds.
