U.S. women’s national soccer team takes on Chile

It is an intriguing matchup between the U.S. women’s national soccer team and Chile. The teams have met once before, in fall 2018, and both games ended in a USA win. The United States is also the defending champion in the Women's World Cup, so it's likely to be a tough test for Chile. Both teams have good players, but the U.S. has the better overall team.

Goalkeeper Christiane Endler

In their World Cup opener, the United States Women's National Team defeated Chile 2-0. Carli and Julie Lloyd each scored, and the USWNT are now 3-0-0 against Chile. The USWNT leads the Group F with a goal differential of 1.0 and will face Sweden this Thursday. The USWNT is expected to win the match. They will also be looking to extend their winning streak.

Start lineup

Which players should start in the Women's Soccer USA-Chile match? The United States will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in the group stage, but a win over Chile could prove vital for their Olympic hopes. The U.S. currently ranks fourth in the global rankings and has won 20 of its 38 matches. Their last match saw them defeat Sweden 66-38. They were dominant in possession and scored twice in the first quarter, but they only saw the ball 28% of their match. Despite starting the match without seven stars, the USA never slowed down. Carli Lloyd had two goals, but missed one third.

Disputes between FIFA & USWNT

Although the dispute between U.S. Soccer and FIFA has been simmering for some time, it is now coming to an end. On International Women's Day in April, four months prior to the Women's World Cup began, a lawsuit was filed against U.S. soccer stars claiming gender discrimination. Players claim they are paid less than their male counterparts and that they do not have equal working conditions.

Players on the team with 200 caps or more

Becky Sauerbrunn already has 200 caps. This makes her the 12th player ever to do this in USWNT History. She will also become the fourth defender to reach this mark. This feat comes just months after the Dutch captain achieved this milestone. It will also surpass the achievement of General Manager Kate Markgraf. Two years ago, a certain player commanded the U.S. National Team for the first time since she celebrated her 100th cap.

Endler's denial regarding Press

Christen press teed Lindsey Horan in the U.S. goal. Endler, however, came out of her goal to deny her tap-in. Press's strike would have given Chile a lead, but Endler made an incredible save. She is gifted with a unique instinct and can make stunning saves. It was the game's highlight, with the save in the final 68 minutes.
