Dana White's Contender Series was created to support the young fighters of the regional scene. This season's main feature will be the Lightweight title match, with the Middleweights (and Welterweights) co-main events. Although the Ultimate Job Interview was cancelled by injuries to the main competitors, it is still a great chance to see if you could be the next big thing in UFC.
Dana White's sixth season Contender Series
The sixth season Dana White’s Contender Series has been released. Its premier date is Tuesday July 26th, at 8 PM ET. The program will air live on ESPN+. It is expected to air one episode a week. The show scouts up-and-coming fighters and provides them with an opportunity to earn contracts with the UFC. The sixth season will include ten episodes.
The main event is for lightweights
Two promising prospects are fighting for the title shot in the lightweight division, which is experiencing a revival. In the main event, former UFC fighters Ty Flores will face Rafael Alves. Both are currently on a four-fight winning streak. Rafael Alves is a former Titan FC interim lightweight champion who trains at the MMA Masters in South Florida. Miguel Baeza is also a fighter he has observed rise to stardom.
The co-main events are for middleweights
The UFC 276 contest series co-main will feature two top fighters from the division. In the co-main, No. Jack Hermansson is 6th in the rankings and No. Sean Strickland is 7th ranked. Both fighters hope to face reigning division champion Israel Adesanya. Hermansson won six of his eight previous fights and has now won nine since 2016. Strickland's five-fight winning streak is over and he hopes to keep it going.
The comain event is the Welterweights
The co-main fight of the contender series features two former heavyweight champions who are both undefeated. Bruno Assis from Brazil will face Diaz, who defeated a highly-rated opponent back in March. There will also be two exciting bantamweight matches. Mayra Pueno Silva will face Wu Yanan, while Carlos Aldo faces a highly-rated prospect in the middleweight division.
Lightweights are the co-main event
For the second time in two years, the lightweight division is back. A top prospect in UFC faces a lightweight. Brendan Battles (28-1 KOs, 2 KOs), takes on Fred Grey, an unknown opponent, in the comain event of the contender Series. The lightweight division champion fight will be won by the winner.
