Moore played in Georgia Metros' 2005-2006 seasons
Maya Moore represented the Georgia Metros 16U Nike Travel Team during 2005 and 2006. Her team was 73-6 that season, and she won MVP honours. The team won four National Championships. Morgan Toles, D'Andra Moss, and other young basketball players were among her teammates. She was also a member of the University of Connecticut's women's basketball team.

Moore was a player for the U.S. Olympic Basketball Team in 2012.
Maya Moore was one the four Minnesotans who participated in the 2012 U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team. She was second to be selected to the team. This helped the United States win their gold medal in 2012. Six gold medals were won in eight games by the U.S. Women's Basketball team, including two in London.
Moore's WNBA career has taken a hiatus
Maya Moore announced today that she will not be returning this season to the WNBA court. Last played for Minnesota Lynx in 2018, at the age of 25. In February, she said that she would be taking some time off to pursue her ministry dreams and to focus on family. During this time, Moore has also been working to free Jonathan Irons from prison for the crimes he committed at the age of 16.
Jonathan Irons Moore's spouse was convicted for a burglary, shooting and other charges in 2007.
Moore met Irons during a visit to her Missouri godparents. His great-uncle introduced him to the rest. Irons was 16 years of age when he was convicted in a burglary case and shot at the white home of a man. Stanley Stotler recognized Irons and convicted him. He was sentenced to prison after he was convicted by a jury.
Moore proposed to Irons that night he was liberated
Moore proposed to Irons on the night a judge overturned his conviction for aggravated assault. Irons' conviction was overturned by the judge after he mentioned problems with the case investigation. The couple are engaged and intend to create a foundation for wrongfully convicted persons. Moore intends to return to basketball this spring.

Moore and Irons have a baby boy
Maya Moore just announced the birth of her first child, Jonathan Irons. The baby boy was born February 20, 2022. Following Jonathan's release from prison, they were married in 2020. It is unclear if the couple are still together. Jonathan and Maya became close friends in prison.
