American mixed martial artist Liz Carmouche is openly lesbian. She is the current Bellator Women's flyweight World Champion. She has also fought in different weight divisions for Bellator and the UFC. But, her fight was stopped prematurely by Mike Beltran, the referee. This is Carmouche's fourth win in the Bellator cage. Velasquez, who had been unbeaten in the past, won this fight. This win ends Velasquez’s run as the Bellator flyweight champion.

Liz Carmouche is now at 4-0 in Bellator after her stunning win over Juliana Velasquez (previous world champion) in Round Four. Her victory also landed her the Bellator flyweight championship. The victory was part of Bellator278's main event and it concluded just 4:47 into round four. This was Carmouche's first defeat of Velasquez. Velasquez had never been beaten in professional MMA.

She was raised at Okinawa's military base

Liz Carmouche, daughter of an Air Force pilot and a mother, grew-up on Okinawa Military Base, Japan. Her dad was posted there in the Air Force, and her mother remarried there. She went to a Christian school there, graduating in 2003. She is now studying at San Diego City College in order to become a kinesiologist.
