Rose Lavelle, USWNT Midfielder of the Match

Lavelle is a highlight reel of talent. She has a creative vision for playing the ball. She made her senior international debut against England in 2017, winning the player-of-the-match award. It is rare to find someone who can combine vision, speed, and creativity with the ball. Her play style is unique and requires artistic license.

Lavelle is from Cincinnati and is a midfielder

Rose Lavelle is a Cincinnati-based player of soccer. She began playing soccer at age 5 in the YMCA coed youth leagues. She didn't celebrate or smile when she scored her first goal. Instead, she kept her cool and continued playing. She played for several local soccer teams, including Cincinnati United Premier Soccer Club. She also played college soccer for the University of Wisconsin.

Lavelle grew into a Cincinnati native and attended Mount Notre Dame High School. She later received a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin. She plays today for the Washington Spirit in NWSL. Neil Bradford, a Cincinnati Soccer trainer helped Lavelle discover her passion for soccer.

Lavelle has played for the United States women’s team at the senior and youth levels. In November 2015, she was named the top midfielder in the Big Ten. NSCAA later awarded her the honor of first-team All-American. Lavelle also played for the Dayton Dutch Lions in the USL W-League in 2014 and the Seattle Sounders Women in the W-League in 2015. Lavelle graduated college and joined Washington Spirit. After graduating from college, Lavelle moved back to Dayton to begin the 2016 Women's Premier Soccer League.


She played for Wisconsin

In December of 2015, Rose Lavelle won the Big Ten Midfielder of the Year award. She was also selected for the U.S. Women's National Team. But, she did not make the game day roster. She began to get frustrated. She felt she wasn't making enough progress and was not in the right shape to face the demands of being a national team player. With Coach Wilkins' help, she was able make it through.

Rose Lavelle, in addition to playing for the Badgers soccer team, is an active member of the university’s community service programs. She is a major participant in Wish Upon a Badger Experience, Women's Soccer, and the Thank-A-Thon as well as Youth Soccer Clinics and the Thank-A-Thon. She has been a brand ambassador for FLIGHT by Yuengling, a premium light beer.

She is a vital member of the U.S. Women's National Team

Rose Lavelle was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. At just 15 years old, she became a vital member of the U.S. Women's National Team. She played recently in the Czech Republic at SheBelieves Cup. Although the USWNT won the game 0-0 they outshot their opponents by 18-6. Rose Lavelle won the Budweiser Woman's Choice Award.

Lavelle was injured in a friendly match against Australia in June 2017. She was hurt in the hamstring, but she returned to USWNT for the last game. She displayed great creativity throughout the tournament and was highly praised by her teammates and coaches as a breakout performer.

Lavelle is a former player at the World Cup of the United States. She made her World Cup debut in Thailand, but she was not able to make it against Chile. Later, she returned against Sweden to help the United States push its attacks.
