The Washington Spirit is an American professional soccer club that plays in the National Women's Soccer League. It is located in Washington, D.C. It is the continuation from the D.C. Tim Kang has ownership of Spirit. It currently has 15 wins, and one loss.

Tim Kang became majority owner of the Washington Spirit in 2021

The Washington Spirit has lost its controlling stake. Tim Kang, a Washington businesswoman, is now the majority owner. While former team owner Steve Baldwin initially resisted the deal, the billionaire recently agreed to sell his stake. The Seattle Spirit were suspended by the league during the ownership crisis, but a representative for the NWSL announced that the team was reinstated. Kang has expressed a desire to modernize the Spirit's business practices and secure a permanent professional training facility.

Kang has a long history of working with equity issues. He hopes to translate that message into the sports world. Kang wants to recognize the talent of female athletes, staff and officials. Spirit's supporters have been an integral part of the revitalization and he hopes to attract soccer fans back to the stadium in 2022.

Steve Baldwin was charged with nepotism, retaliation.

Baldwin has been distrusted by Washington spirit players. A group of players has issued a statement demanding that he sell his ownership stake to "Michele," the equity partner of the Spirit. They claim that the current team leadership is toxic and Baldwin must resign.

Baldwin was asked by the Spirit players to sell the team and to resign as CEO and managing partner. Many players also demanded that the team be sold to a woman owner. The National Women's Soccer League launched an investigation into Washington's spirit. The league concluded that players were being harassed but that no one was doing anything to stop it. The investigation also found that Baldwin was hiring friends to fill positions that were not well qualified.

After a 15-game losing streak Kris Ward was fired as Washington Spirit manager

The Washington Spirit have fired Kris Ward, their head coach. After a 15-game losing streak and a relationship that was deteriorating between Ward and his players, Ward was fired. This weekend, the team's players were forced to attend a staff retreat without Ward, according to an unnamed source. The Spirit's governing board was made aware of the misconduct and has promised to investigate.

The Spirit were at 1-6-9 heading into this streak. But, a winless streak could help them balance out the numbers. Ward, after all, helped the Spirit win the first national championship since 2012 when they joined the league. The Spirit will have no choice but to replace Ward after a 15 game losing streak.
