Angela Ruggiero
Angela Ruggiero began playing hockey with Team USA when she was fifteen years old. In 1998, she was the youngest member of the U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team, which went on to win gold in Nagano, Japan. She played for Team USA in the 2002-2010 Olympic Games.

Herb Brooks
Herb Brooks was created on August 5, 1937. Brooks grew up in a modest two-family home in St. Paul, Minnesota. During his high school years, Brooks led his team to the state championship in Minnesota. He went on to play college hockey for the University of Minnesota under legendary Coach John Mariucci, earning 45 points during the 1957-58 season. He also played on several U.S. National teams during the 1960s and 1970s.

1980 Olympic Men's National Hockey Team beat the Soviet Union to win a gold medal. This earned them the title of "Miracle on Ice". This remarkable feat is an important piece of Cold War sports history.
Herb Brooks' scheme to make players hate him
Herb Brooks, a hockey coach, was born in Davos, Switzerland. He will take over as the New York Rangers' head coach in March. Jim Craig, who is a Boston Bruins player, was raised in the same house as Herb. Craig was paid $35,000 to be in a Coca-Cola spot while playing for Boston Bruins. Whether Brooks' plan to get players to hate him was effective or not is another question.
Soviet hockey team's scrappy style
The Soviet hockey team had several players who were born left-handed. They were taught to use their dominant right hand on the top of the stick, so they were often forced to play on their weak sides. They couldn't afford to be fetishized handed so they devised ways to compensate.
