There are many questions about the USA's disappointing performance in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Can the team win another gold medal? While the answer is no it doesn't mean that the team will not win gold again. The USA has a long history of disappointments in Olympic hockey. The national hockey team has always been close to winning a medal at the Olympics. However, this has never happened.

Angela Ruggiero

Angela Ruggiero started playing hockey for Team USA at the age of fifteen. She was just 15 years old when she joined the U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team. In 1998, it was her youngest team member. The team won gold in Nagano. She continued to play for Team USA, playing on the 2002 Olympic Teams and the 2010 Olympic Teams.

Herb Brooks

Herb Brooks is a 1937 born. He grew up in a modest duplex in St. Paul, Minnesota. Brooks won the Minnesota state championship with his team during high school. He went on to play college hockey for the University of Minnesota under legendary Coach John Mariucci, earning 45 points during the 1957-58 season. He played on many U.S. National teams in the 1960s and 1970s.

Miracle on Ice

1980 Olympic Men's National Hockey Team beat the Soviet Union to win a gold medal. This earned them the title of "Miracle on Ice". This incredible feat is a significant piece of Cold War and sports history.


Herb Brooks' scheme to make players hate him

Herb Brooks was a hockey coach who lived and worked in Davos in Switzerland. He will be the New York Rangers' coach in March. Jim Craig, who is a Boston Bruins player, was raised in the same house as Herb. While playing for the Boston Bruins, Craig was paid $35,000 to appear in a Coca-Cola commercial. The question is whether Brooks' scheme to make his players hate him or not.

Soviet hockey team's scrappy style

Many of the Soviet hockey players were left-handed. They were taught to use their dominant right hand on the top of the stick, so they were often forced to play on their weak sides. They couldn't afford to be fetishized handed so they devised ways to compensate.

Brian O'Neill is an American professional ice hockey forward. He is currently signed with EV Zug of the National League. He has been the USA National Hockey Team's representative on five occasions.
