Annie Park - A Korean American Golfer

Annie Park is a professional golfer and plays on the LPGA Tour. She has one LPGA Tour win, and she recently competed at the 2019 Solheim Cup. She is an ex-college individual champion and competed on the Symetra TOUR. She received the Honda Sports Award for 2018 She was also awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2018.

The Korean American golfer Annie Park has come a long way in her life. She was raised in Levittown, New York, and is one of three girls. She was a great junior golfer from a young age. She won the Nassau Boys High School Championship 2012 as the first female winner. Annie is a humble individual, but has played well enough to make a living off of the sport.

Annie Park was determined to go professional after her junior-year. In February she underwent a thyroidectomy, but she quickly recovered. She missed the NCAA finals in May but has since won twice on the Epson Tour. She won the Toyota Danielle Downey Classic on July 19 and the PHC Classic on August 2. Park is now the first Korean American woman who has won on the Tour. She is also the leader in scoring average and rounds in the 60s.

Annie Park is a former college golfer who has a 3.66 GPA. She is a MacArthur’s Renaissance program member that recognizes academically gifted college students. Park is also close to Claritza Baquero who has made a commitment to Liberty University.

Park started playing golf at the age of seven. When she was just 10 years old, she was already hitting 500 balls a day. Her mom home-schooled her for a time and accompanied her from tournament to tournament. Her older sister (13 years) runs a nail salon on Glen Head, Long Island.

She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2018

Annie Park won in 2018 the Honda Sports Award Women's Golf, after she qualified at the U.S Women's Open held at Sebonack Golf Club near Southampton, New York. She was one among four nominees, and she won the award, beating Ella Eastin and Katie Ledecky. The nation's most prestigious honor for female college athletes is this award. It will be presented at the Honda Cup in Los Angeles on June 25.


Annie Park is an ex-NCAA individual champion for University of Southern California. In her first season she won the conference title and the Division I individual ladies' golf title. She beat the winner six strokes. She won the overall national championship as well as the Honda Sports Award. She decided later to leave the Trojans for the LPGA Tour.

She plays twosomes in Mission Hills.

Annie Park was the only person who participated in the Chevron Championship held at Mission Hills Country Club. Park was the first round alone. Twosomes are common in this tournament. Park shot a score of 69-67 to make it through the cut. It was her best 36 hole score in a major tourney.

She will be playing with another person the next day. She is not in the top 15 of any major and once thought about quitting. She played during a pandemic and has been dealing with mental health issues.

Annika Sorenstam inspired her and Se Ri Pak

Annie Park was inspired by two different sportspeople when she was a child: Se Ri Pak and Annika Sorenstam. These were South Koreans who had great success on LPGA Tour. The former was an inspiration to young South Korean players, while Sorenstam was a role model for American girls.

Park was born and raised here in Levittown. Park is the youngest sister of three and was born to Korean immigrants. Despite her humble upbringing, she is able to play golf well enough for a decent living.
